It has taken longer than we all expected but now Oliver and Sasa have a son! Finally delivered by c-section at 5:30pm Shanghai time 5th November after a number of attempts to induce a natural birth. A lovely baby and looking like he will be quite tall. Born at 3.9kg. Very wide awake when he first arrived. We can see both Oliver and Sasa in him. Sasa was very relieved, as were we all, but she was wiped out by all the medical intervention.
Oliver was worn out too and very grateful to Sasa's family for their help, especially Sasa's brother who has been very attentive throughout. He has his own son, 2 years old, so he is very clued up about babies and can converse with the hospital staff more easily than Oliver. He stayed overnight to watch the baby while the parents (and grandparents) recovered.
It is a great shame we cannot communicate directly with Sasa's family since we are spending so much time in their company, but with the magic of translation apps on our phones and theirs we can manage a few comments and questions. Sasa will need to stay in the hospital up to a week longer so we will need to coordinate our visits with her family and our help, especially since the space in the ward is very limited.
We are looking forward to seeing more of the baby today. Hopefully get some pictures of him with his proud parents and perhaps a name or two!
Gorgeous photos. So glad all is well but poor Sasa. She must be exhausted. Love to all.
ReplyDeleteCan we have a photo of the proud grampa? And of Sasa's parents too please? Xxx
Congratulations!!! Do wish Sasa a very good recovery - she absolutely deserves care and attention. Thank you so much for sharing these moments, and indeed, as mentioned earlier: gorgeous photos. Looking forward to much more news. (never thought I would be so happy with following "a blog" - but your reports are so well written!) Love to you all.
ReplyDeleteAww! Congratulations to the proud parents and grandparents.
